Tonight UK television will be airing Piers Morgan's exclusive interview with US President, Donald J. Trump.
Whilst we have a well-established tradition in the UK of a free press holding extremists and hate preachers to account; the new far right are now fully mainstreamed. Incredibly powerful. Well funded. Heavily supported. And they know how to play the general public. It’s happening in plain sight. In twenty years, your children will look back and ask you - whilst the evidence was overwhelming and in the public domain, how was it so many acquiesced to the new Nazis who had re-emerged from the swamp?
It’s not as if there are still any questions about the white supremacy, anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant policies flowing from the Nazi controlled Whitehouse like a toxic river of effluent carrying suspended in it the worst of revisionist histories: Crusader ideology, clash of civilisation narratives, staggering disinformation, ignorance, hate and political divisiveness. The worst of humanity.
It’s not as if Trump hasn’t been clear. It’s not as if we don’t know the man is a sociopath and a serial sex abuser. A racist. A fascist. A liar. A fraud. We know all about Steve Bannon. The KKK. Breitbart. It’s not as if we don’t know.
Since he’s already read my thoughts below and has refused to answer the claims, it would appear Piers' latest televisual puff piece is yet another not-so-thinly veiled attempt to relaunch brand Trump. To humanise him. And whilst the mainstream media has appeared to have folded, eating it up by the rancid stomach-churning spoonful, all we can hope is that the general public keeps alive the promise from the last time these people took the reigns of power.
The promise: Never forget.
Those millions that died at the hands of fascist anti-Semites in the 1930s, should not have died in vain. They were sacrificed on the alter that we never again allow these people to gain influence over our lives. Just as supporting anti-Semitism makes you an anti-Semite; supporting Islamophobia makes you an Islamophobe.
In fairness to Piers - who has navigated so very many scandals throughout his journalistic career - he's a truly talented communications specialist. Unoubtedly, his predecessor Goebbels would have been proud. Credit where credit is due. Even to the Nazis and their supporters.
